adding-a-qualified-electrician-to-your-office-relocation-planAs you prepare for a business move, creating an Office Relocation Plan is among your most important objectives – especially because, unlike a residential move, you simply can’t afford for something to be ignored or neglected. Even the smallest missed detail can trigger a major, costly disruption to your operations. It can also frustrate your customers and damage your reputation.

While there are many elements and aspects to a robust Office Relocation Plan (and we regularly highlight these in our blog posts), one in particular that you definitely want to think about is adding a qualified electrician.

Below, we highlight why this may be a smart move:

4 Reasons Your Office Relocation Needs a Dedicated Electrician On Duty

1. You may be required to do so.

Frankly, you may be required by your lease, mortgage, landlord, or the law to hire an electrician to handle any electrical work in your new location. If this is the case, then obviously attaching an electrician to your Office Relocation Plan is not even a decision to make: it’s a task to fill.

2. You can reduce risk.

Even if you aren’t contractually or legally (or both) required to hire an electrician for your office relocation, it may still be wise to go that route -- especially if you have sophisticated IT, telecom or backup/UPS systems, which often require special outlets. An electrician will make sure the job is done right the first time, so you can focus on getting up and running as soon as possible.

3. You may need additional outlets.

It’s costly and inconvenient to add outlets after your new office is full of furniture and people. Hiring an electrician to visit the site ahead of time to install additional outsets is a very smart move -- and one that will be appreciated by your outlet-seeking employees!

4. Your new location may have electrical issues.

We’ve saved the most daunting reason for last: your new location may look great on the outside, but behind the walls there could be an electrical nightmare waiting to happen; if not of safety risk kind, then of the “the power suddenly isn’t working at 10am on a Monday” kind. Sending an electrician ahead of time to conduct a thorough evaluation can be a very shrewd move.
